Patricia Laverley - Banking Executive from Washington, DC

With close to two decades of working experience in the banking industry, Washington, DC, resident, Patricia Laverley began her professional career in 2007 as the principal results and macroeconomist. At the African Development Bank (AfDB). A World Bank Knowledge Management Working Group member, Patricia Laverley moved to the Republic of Sierra Leone in 2018 where she was the deputy minister of finance. She is the head of mission and country manager of the company, a role she has held since 2022.

Over the years, some of her key functions have included developing strategies aligned with AfDB’s priorities to promote sustainable, inclusive, and green growth while addressing issues such as climate change. She works to strengthen the country’s capacity to collaborate with stakeholders and identify opportunities for impactful projects through innovation and partnerships. Patricia Laverley also focuses on initiatives aligned with AfDB’s priorities.

She is also a mentor in the country office team, ensuring high performance, compliance with policies, and efficient resource management. She collaborates with different departments on audits, portfolio management, and resource allocation. Also, she enhances AfDB’s visibility by representing it at key events, engaging with stakeholders, and developing localized communication strategies to strengthen its presence and reputation.

Patricia Laverley has also authored and co-authored various reports, including World Bank reports, some of which have been cited in academic journals. Additionally, she has received multiple World Bank awards for excellence in macroeconomic research, results analysis, and evaluation skills.
